Design Challenge 2011: Homelessness
![]() Ideas to reduce the risk, improve daily life, and build a base to live from. Each year the Design Research Institute Design Challenge focuses on a different real and pressing issue, those too complex to be solved by one discipline or one set of expertise. In 2011 the focus is Homelessness. The needs of the homeless range from shelter to the everyday issues of mobility, safety, food, health, education, communication, work, play and identity. Design Challenge responses can focus on any of these aspects.What can design thinking and collaboration do to contribute to averting homelessness, mitigating its effects and improving the daily life or proposing pathways to social inclusion, housing, and employment. OUTCOMESThe Design Challenge acts as a catalyst for 'solution finding' in life's complex challenges-
